Concrete

Common Mistakes

How We Prevent

  • Not Preparing Site

IMG_7803_edited_edited.jpg

The preparation of the site will determine the success or failure of any concrete job. Failure to prepare properly will result in uneven surface.

To ensure site is level we grade and compact it to keep surface even.

  • Not preparing for bad weather

If rain gets on concrete while pouring or finishing, it will weaken and cause the surface to look rough.

We do not pour in the rain and we always cover your concrete project with plastic while it finishes to ensure a smooth, durable surface.

  • Using the wrong mix of concrete

Not getting the ratio of the mixture right can make a less durable product that can lead to cracking, and even collapsing of the concrete.

Our concrete comes premixed in a cement truck to fit the consistency of what is required for the specified job. This ensures a durable, smooth finish.

  • Not finishing properly

Just because the concrete is poured does not mean its finished. This process is important to have a durable slab. Not finishing can result in uneven concrete as well as rough, sloppy edges.

During the finishing process, we use a screed board to level and smooth out the surface. After, we take an edging tool to even out the edges.

Fence

Common Mistakes

How We Prevent

  • Post holes aren't deep enough

If the holes for your posts are not deep enough it will weaken the fence and can cause it to tilt.

We make the post holes between 30-36 inches to ensure the fence is straight and sturdy.

  • Not enough concrete

The concrete poured into the post holes is a critical part of the fence building process. Not getting this right will cause the fence not to set properly.

For a long lasting and durable fence, we use between 120- 160 pounds of concrete to allow the fence to set properly.

  • Not taking yard elevation into account

Depending on the yard, you must consider the elevation or decline of the yard. This must be done to maintain a straight line along the fence.

We calculate the rise and fall for individual sections to keep the fence looking straight to give you the fence you always wanted.
